Eatonia Oasis Living - August 2009

August 31, 2009

The month of August has come and gone very quickly with a lot of activities to pass the time.  Eatonia Oasis Living celebrated three birthdays in August: Dorothy Boyle, Fay Campbell, Elsie Calvert and Joseph Stang.  We would like to thank the Catholic Church women who hosted the monthly birthday party on August 6th.  EOL would like to welcome Joseph Stang (from Macklin) to our facility who moved in on August 7th.  Andy Wagman moved back to Leader on August 17th, the staff and residents wish him the best.  At the end of August we have a total of 21 residents in our facility.

The residents were busy this month with a lot of activities.  These activities included shuffleboard, bingo, manicures, playing the Wii, baking and watching movies.  Marie Smith came and worked on crafts this month, the residents made flower pot centerpieces to be used next spring.  Thank You Marie for volunteering your time to make crafts with the residents.  Our residents Agnes Goodwin and Maynard Mastel entertained there fellow residents with an afternoon of piano music on August 15th and 22nd.

Eatonia Oasis Living Board, staff and residents would like to thank Mid-Sask Ag Services for awarding our facility with a $13, 000 cheque.  From April 1st to October 31st last year, customers and staff of Mid-Sask Ag Services Ltd. helped raise these funds through a community-driven initiative called Esso Farm Community Growth Fund.  Esso contributed up to a penny for each litre of farm fuel sold at Mid-Sask Ag Services Ltd. during this time and met their target to raise $13,000.00.  The funding raised from Esso’s Farm Community Growth Fund will be used to benefit the residents of Eatonia Oasis Living as well as the residents of Eatonia and surrounding areas.  The funding will be used to purchase a variety of items to be used in the personal care home.  The following items will be considered when designating the funding, they include a walk-in tub, lab accessories for the Eatonia Medical Laboratory and an outdoor screened area.

The residents would like to acknowledge Susan Dearborn who volunteered to serve at the bacon and egg luncheon on August 29th.  The staff and residents enjoy seeing and visiting people from our community.  If anyone would like to come to the care home to volunteer their time please give Krista a call at 967-2447 so that we can set up a time to come in.  If anyone is in need of a walker, electric bed or scooters please call Krista at 967-2447.  There are 3 walkers, 1 electric bed and 1 scooter available for resale.

Donations are received throughout the month of August; if we have missed your name please accept our apology.
