Seasons Greetings! November has come and gone and we start to anticipate and count down the days until Christmas. The Residents entered this season by celebrating with the annual Christmas banquet held on November 29. Each table had a little reindeer centre piece that was hand made by the Residents, with the direction of Marie Smith. We all enjoyed a wonderful evening with family and friends, amazing food, and Christmas cheer.
Looking back over the month and the last days of October, we recall the many events at EOL. Halloween was a fun night for our Residents; they enjoyed handing out candy to the trick or treating children in their costumes. On Remembrance Day we took time to remember those who sacrificed, and continue to sacrifice for our country. We also enjoyed our regular activities this month which included daily morning exercises, a very rambunctious game of balloon badminton, Wii bowling (the current grand-champion bowler is Fay Campbell!), manicures, bingo, “guess the word” game, bean bag toss, and also attending the Lutheran, United, Catholic, and Christian Fellowship church services.
At the End of November we have a total of 20 residents at EOL. This month we celebrated the birthdays of Ethel Grayson (November 13), who turned 103! Congratulations Ethel! Hilda Hartsook (November 14), Agnes Goodwin (November 19), Betty Longridge (November 25), and Catherine Busby (November 30). Thank you to the Catholic Church ladies for providing delicious cakes on November 6, for our monthly birthday party. We all enjoyed visiting and listening to the musical talents of our very own Agnes Goodwin, and Maynard Mastel on the piano.
The residents and staff send our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Virginia Clark who passed away on October 28. “Ginny” lived at EOL for many years, and she is missed by all. Funeral Services were held on November 2nd at the LDS church in Kindersley.
EOL is currently seeking an individual who would be interested in shoveling snow on weekends (Saturday, Sunday and all Stat holidays) when needed throughout the winter. The individual will be paid $15.00 an hour. The snow must be removed by 8.00 a.m. each morning. Please phone Krista at 967-2447 for details.
We have posted a job opportunity notice as we are currently seeking a casual maintenance person to fill in for vacations and days off as needed. Please see this posting in the newsletter, or phone Krista for more information.
EOL is currently in need of another freezer for our busy kitchen. Anyone who would like to donate a gently used freezer that is in good working condition please call Krista at 967-2447. EOL has items for resale. If anyone in the community is in need of a walker, (3 available) or an electric bed, (1 available) please phone Krista to set up a time to view these items.
The residents always enjoy seeing and visiting with people from our community. If anyone would like to come in and spend some time visiting, or playing a game, or activity, with our wonderful residents, please phone Heather at 967-2447 to set up a time.
We would like to send a very big thank you to the EOL Auxiliary for paying for our newsletter space for each month.
