Eatonia Oasis Living - December 2009
December 22, 2009
Merry Christmas from all of us at EOL. The residents keep warm inside by taking part in decorating the Personal Care Home for the Christmas season. The residents decorated a tree with all decorations which have been made by the residents over the past few years. Thank you to Marie Smith who creates the great crafts that we are able to use to decorate the home.
This month we celebrated the birthdays of Sheila Ferguson (December 6), and Frank Longridge (December 15). Our monthly party was December 11, and thank you to the United Church ladies for your gifts for the residents and very delicious cakes. Berneice Wagner moved in at the end of November for a respite stay, the staff and residents are enjoying visiting with her. At the End of December we have a total of 21 residents at EOL.
We also enjoyed our regular activities this month which included daily morning exercises, the always popular balloon badminton game, Wii bowling (thank you John Stevens (age 7) for bowling with us!), manicures, bingo, “guess the word” game, and watched a Christmas movie called “The Santa Trap” which was enjoyed by all. The residents also attended the Lutheran, United, Catholic, and Christian Fellowship church services. On December 21st some of our residents enjoyed a Christmas Lighting tour around Eatonia, thank you Glen Wagner and the Town of Eatonia for arranging the tour with the Handi-van. As a special activity on Christmas Eve the residents decorated cookies to enjoy over the Christmas holiday.
The residents and staff at EOL created a Football Pool to celebrate the Grey Cup.
The winners are:
1st quarter - Holly Pincemin $10.00
2nd quarter - Kara Richardson $15.00
3rd Quarter – Holly Pincemin $25.00
Final - Frank Longridge $50.00
EOL is currently in need of another freezer for our busy kitchen. Anyone who would like to donate a gently used freezer that is in good working condition please call Krista at 967-2447. We have some item for re-sale, if anyone in the community is in need of an electric bed please phone Krista to set up a time to view this item.
The residents always enjoy seeing and visiting with people of all ages from our community. If anyone would like to come in and spend quality time visiting, playing a game or activity with our wonderful residents, please phone Heather at 967-2447 to set up a time.
Donations are received throughout the month of December, if we have missed your name, please accept our apology. Thank you for all the donations received!!!!
