The months of June and July have passed by very quickly and it is hard to believe that the summer is almost over. During June the Personal Care Home celebrated the following birthdays: Maynard Mastel, Raymond Somerville and Cecilia Pincemin. The Lutheran Church Women hosted the birthday party on the June 19th which was enjoyed by all residents. The month of July celebrated two birthdays, Harvey White and Betty Schmaltz. The birthday party was held on July 10th and was hosted by the Christian Fellowship. The residents really enjoy the birthday parties and appreciate the volunteers who host the parties. The residents welcomed two new residents into the Personal Care Home these past two months. The new residents are Andy Wagman from Leader and Sheila Ferguson from Empress. Early in July we bid farewell to Zella Ham who left EOL and moved into Caleb Place in Kindersley. The residents were sad to see her leave but wish her the best.
Jerry Dirk and friends from Rosetown travelled to EOL on July 21, 2009 to entertain the residents with some oldies but goodies. They played the piano, guitar and organ and had the residents tapping their toes to the music. Thank you to this group of volunteers for taking the time to travel and entertain us. The community volunteer appreciation BBQ was held on June 23rd to celebrate the new Camp Kitchen; the residents really enjoyed the BBQ and the deserts. On June 20th some of the residents went to Leader to see the Parade and have dinner. Thank You to Donna Specht who went along with the residents as well as Glen Wagner who drove the Handi-van. Some of the residents are going to the Sceptre Museum on July 28th which will be a great outing for the residents. The Kindergarten and Grade 1 students came to the EOL in June to perform a variety show which was enjoyed by all. The residents were busy crafting these past two months. Marie Smith came to the home and assisted the residents to make kites to decorate the entrance way, and frogs to place in the flower beds outside. Other activities that the residents took part in were playing shuffleboard, bingo, guess the word, 5 card bingo, and balloon badminton. The residents watched some movies and played bowling, Deal or No Deal and the Price is Right on the Wii.
Eatonia Oasis Living would like to thank the Saskatchewan Lotteries for providing funding for activities and exercises that the residents take part in. This funding is used to purchase craft supplies, Wii games, bedding plants and much more. The residents would like to acknowledge Bernice Radies and Daisy Meyer who volunteered to serve at the bacon and egg luncheon on June 6th and July 4th. Joy Assmus, Brooklyn Assmus, Janine Specht, Hannah Gibson, Kara & Amy Knuttila, Ryder Goldsmith, and Cora Knuttila who have volunteered their time to serve evening lunch. The staff and residents enjoy seeing and visiting people from our community. Donations are received throughout the month of June & July; if we have missed your name please accept our apology. Thank you for all the donations received
